MOESC Hosts Project Based Learning Training with Author Todd Stanley

Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center is proud to host author Todd Stanley for a gifted educator professional development seminar. The training, based on Stanley’s book, Project-Based Learning for Gifted Students: A Handbook for the 21st-Century Classroom, will be held September 24th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants can choose to attend either in-person at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center or via Zoom conference and will earn 6 hours of gifted professional development.

For convenience, the seminar will be recorded for those who wish to participate at a later date.  Those interested in this third option, will still need to register for the virtual seminar. Upon registration and receipt of payment, participants will receive a link to the seminar content.  Prior to receiving a certificate for 6 gifted PD hours, participants will share their draft Project-Based Learning plan with their gifted coordinator.

While this presentation will be designed specifically to target gifted students, the principles and learning will apply to all students, so any interested educators are invited to attend. As a stand-alone follow up to this session, Stanley’s book will be offered by Mid-Ohio ESC as an online book study in January 2021.

Todd Stanley is the author of many teacher-education books like Project-Based Learning and others including When Smart Kids Underachieve in the Classroom: Practical Solutions for Teachers, Authentic Learning: Real World Experiences that Build 21st Century Skills, Using Rubrics for Performance-Based Assessment, and his latest, Promoting Rigor Through Higher Level Questioning. Todd served as a classroom teacher for 18 years and is currently the Gifted Services Coordinator for Pickerington Local School District and an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati teaching gifted education.
