Student Events Calendar Set for 2023/2024 School Year
Mansfield, OH (July 18, 2023) – Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center staff have been working hard planning the student events calendar for the 2023/2024 school year with the Academic Challenge, Artapolooza art festival, and local and area spelling bees all returning. Carrie Wood, Director of Teaching and Learning said, “It is Mid-Ohio’s desire to provide a space for our region’s youth to showcase their talent in academics and the arts while boosting their confidence, communication and presentation skills through school and family/community student events. Mid-Ohio is a leader in this area for making a commitment not just to schools but to our community! Our team of gifted consultants works tirelessly to ensure this opportunity for the students.”
Students from 4th through 12th grade look forward to Academic Challenge every year. Students compete as teams to answer questions about various topics including literature, fine arts, geography, history, math, and science. The dates for Academic Challenge are as follows:

The Artapolooza art festival showcases all types of visual art projects: paintings, drawings, sculptures, as well as mixed media and digital arts from area students. Festival dates will be April 12-17, 2024 and will take place at Mid-Ohio ESC. There is no cost for Client/Member districts, but Non-client participants have a fee of $200. Spelling bees will be part of Mid-Ohio ESC’s mid-winter student activities, and Mid-Ohio will be hosting (virtual) two local bees and one area bee. The Crawford and Morrow County combined bee will take place on January 18, 2024 at 10 AM. The Richland County bee will be January 25, 2024 at 10 AM. There is no cost for Client/Member districts for either spelling bee, but Non-client districts will have a fee of $100. To wrap up bee season, the Tri-County Final will take place February 15, 2024 at 6:30 PM at Mid-Ohio ESC. Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center provides specialized academic and support services, including professional development, to 13 school districts and over 20,000 students in Crawford, Morrow and Richland Counties. Client districts receive services from curriculum, gifted and special education consultants, speech pathologists, psychologists, special education teachers, occupational therapists and physical therapists.
