MOESC Announces Continuation of Student Leadership Conference

Launch the media gallery 1 playerMansfield, OH (October 24, 2023) – Mid-Ohio ESC is excited to continue the annual Student Leadership Conferences. This year MOESC is hosting two student events, November 15, 2023 and March 7, 2024. Each event will run from 9:00 AM-1:15 PM and is open to students in grades 9-12.
This leadership series is open to all MOESC client/partnering districts as well as all school districts in Crawford, Morrow, and Richland counties. Students will enjoy two interactive and engaging days exploring leadership practices and will return to their districts with a plan to influence positive change in their schools and community.
The conference aims to increase leadership capacities among students by giving them an opportunity outside of their home district to develop leadership and collaboration skills. The goal of this opportunity is to prepare students to assume leadership roles and become change agents. Bringing students from different districts delivers the possibilities of various perspectives and learning experiences.
All client/partnering districts will be able to send 20 students free of charge (five members from each grade 9-12). Districts can choose to send students who have attended in previous years or send students who have not attended. Mid-Ohio asks that each school send at least one chaperone with their students. Donuts, refreshments and lunch will be provided to students and chaperones at no cost.
The Keynote Speaker for the conference will be Doug Worthington, a former Ohio State University and NFL player, from the Driven Foundation. MOESC's Executive Director of Achievement and Leadership, Dr. Mark Burke, Jr., said, "We are very excited to bring Doug Worthington to speak to our student leaders. Doug will share a powerful message to encourage and inspire our young leaders to become leaders of change in their local communities.”

Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center provides specialized academic and support services to 13 school districts and over 20,000 students in Crawford, Morrow and Richland Counties. Client districts receive services from curriculum, gifted and special education consultants, speech pathologists, psychologists, special education teachers, occupational therapists and physical therapists.
