Designing High Quality Assessments for OTES 2.0
Launch the media gallery 1 playerTo introduce educators to essential components of assessment design and make connections to the High Quality Student Data that is required by Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) 2.0, Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center is hosting a Zoom conference on Thursday, January 14th on Designing High Quality Assessments from 9 a.m. to noon. Apryl Ealy and Cathryn Everidge-Shaw, both from the Ohio Department of Education, will present.
The Ohio State Board of Education values the importance of promoting educator professional growth that leads to improved instructional performance and student learning. OTES 2.0 is a professional growth model and is intended to be used to continually assist educators in enhancing teacher performance.
The workshop gives educators an opportunity to learn the process of creating and vetting the High Quality Student Data assessments required by the new OTES. Ealy and Everidge-Shaw will explain the necessary components of writing high-quality assessments, give examples of how this is done, and review the need to consider the level of Depth of Knowledge in each question. They will also explain the assessment requirements for OTES and how districts might validate the validity, reliability, depth, and protocols of each student assessment used in the evaluation process.
