Gifted Services Offering More Professional Development

Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center is providing client districts the opportunity to learn and earn gifted PD hours. There are two options, the first is a one-day conference, while the second is several book studies utilizing Google Classroom.

The conference Reaching and Teaching Gifted Learners Through Technology will take place August 9, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mid-Ohio ESC. The conference will be led by Stephanie Howell. Ms. Howell is the CEO of Gold EDU, a Google for Education Partner, a founder of Global GEG, and the EdTech Lead for Pickerington Local Schools. She is key to the embedding and implementation of EdTech tools across her schools and organizations. Recently she was named by EdTech Magazine as one of the Top 30 IT Influencers in the US for 2022.

The conference will help educators provide quality educational experiences to gifted learners through technology and to provide personalized learning experiences for students. With guidance and support from experienced professionals, educators will make some resources for the classroom. Attendees of the conference will receive 5 gifted PD hours. Registration is $25 for those from client districts and $40 for those from non-client districts. Register at www.moesc.net/register

Four book studies will be available for educators throughout the 2022/2023 school year, starting June 1st with the book Project-Based Learning for Gifted Students: A Step-by-Step Guide to PBL and Inquiry in the Classroom, which is now open for registration. The study offers 15 gifted PD hours. Registration is free to Mid-Ohio ESC gifted model districts; all other districts contact Mid-Ohio ESC for more information.

Interested educators can sign up for the book study opportunities at www.moesc.net/giftedpd. Anyone with questions about any of the professional development or registration can contact Leanna Ferreira at 419-774-5520 or by emailing ferreira.leanna@moesc.net

For both the conference and book studies, these resources are specifically designed to provide professional development to teachers who are serving gifted students; however, educators will learn valuable strategies for all students and all are invited to participate.
