MOESC October Art Teachers Network Meeting

Mansfield, OH (October 1, 2024) – Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center is excited to announce the inclusion of Art Teacher Network meetings again for the 2024-2025 school year. This series of network meetings originated by request of area art teachers participating in MOESC’s annual Artapolooza art exhibition. “Arts specialists were looking for the opportunity to gain professional development, collaborate and connect with other art teachers in the local area,” states Jennifer Pennell, Gifted Education Consultant through MOESC. “Being a former art teacher myself, I understood their need for professional development suited to their content area.”

Art teachers will enjoy speakers on topics related to the arts, lesson planning, and experimenting with new art materials, as well as opportunities to collaborate and network with others in the field.

Mid-Ohio ESC is pleased to welcome Dr Jodi Kushins, Arts Learning Coordinator, from the Ohio Arts Council. Dr. Kushins and other Ohio Arts Council staff will present a session on grant opportunities available through OAC and lead a working session on applying for a TeachArtsOhio grant. Pennell further states, “This will be a fabulous opportunity for art teachers to not only learn what grant opportunities are available through the Ohio Arts Council but also get a jump start on the grant writing process, which can seem overwhelming for first-time grant applicants.” The Ohio Arts Council recognizes the importance of administrative support of arts programming and encourages school administrators to attend this session with their art specialists to learn more about securing grant funding for the arts. This first network meeting of the year is scheduled for Friday, October 11 from 12:30-2:30 PM at Mid-Ohio ESC.

Participants can register online at moesc.net/register for the October network meeting and the remaining meetings on February 14 and May 9. Participation in the Art Teacher Network is free to client/member districts. There is a $25 per session charge for non-client districts.

For more information, please contact Jenny Pennell at 419-774-5520, ext. 2606 or pennell.jennifer@moesc.net.
